This is a short post as the weather is still taking its toll on attendance of our meetings.

We held the January workshop on the 28th with Laurie Jones showing us how we can embellish our projects with beading and thread. We were all a little intimidated at first, but with her encouragement we dived right in. She provided several examples of small projects and supplies and each member chose one to stitch and take home if unfinished by the end of the workshop. It was decided a couple of days before to have lunch brought in from Subway with coffee, teas and hot chocolate. It was a nice respite with lots of conversation.

The attendance at our regular meeting on February 12th was still on the small size, so no official meeting was held. Marcia showed those who braved the cold and snow how to assemble the "Disappearing Hour Glass Block 2" by the Missouri Star Quilt Company. If you would still like to learn this block, bring a 10" dark square and a 10" light square to the next workshop and she would be happy to help you assemble this block. It's a quick and easy block to use up that layer cake package you may have bought and just don't know what to do with it.

The next workshop will be held February 28th where we will be working on our BOM block 2. If you haven't gotten block 1 done, don't worry, we can work on that at the same time. Plan on bringing another project or even the next couple of blocks to work on after you finish block 1 & 2. If you're not doing the BOM come and bring a project to work on. We will again have Subway, coffee, tea and hot chocolate brought in.

Our March 12th meeting I (Chris P.) will be demonstrating how to apply binding to your finished top. Please bring a 12" x 12" or larger quilt sandwich (this doesn't have to be anything special, just scraps) with enough 2 1/2" strips sewn together end to end and folded and pressed in half, to go around your sandwich with several extra inches to allow for mitered corners and connecting the start of your binding to the end. Also bring your machines and any tools you may need. Irons and ironing boards will be provided.

On March 18th New London CIC is having a Cure for Cabin Fever at The Hileman Building in the recreation park from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A couple of us will have a table representing our guild.

The workshop for March will be held the 22nd instead of the 28th. This is because of the Original Sewing and Quilt Expo in Cleveland held on March 26, 27 & 28th. That way if someone wants to attend the Expo on Saturday they can do so without missing the workshop. We will also be meeting in the youth room where the stage is due to a conflicting event at the church.

We're looking for members to sign up for a demonstrations for the rest of the years regular meetings starting with April's meeting. Please consider volunteering to share with the rest of the guild a technique that you find interesting. It could be a new ruler, a quick and easy block, a new tool or anything you would like to share.

Here are a couple of show and tell.

Martha did this gorgeous embroidered quilt from Hoop Sisters. These pictures do not do it justice.
