The New London Quilt Guild start from the mind of Pastor Cathy Ake. Pastor Cathy was not a quilter when she started the Guild back in 2006. But she felt the need of a community group that involved crafters. Since there were so many crafters in the church parish (mainly quilters) Pastor Cathy got the ball rolling.
At first the Guild was a church social thing and was not considered a guild until newspaper articles referred to it as one. The first few years roll forward with a community craft sale, the town's first quilt show, and a Christmas Sampler quilt that was to be raffled off in New London's Christmas holiday events.
Today the New London Quilt Guild is a small society of quilters with various talents. Each member has something different to bring from different aspects of the quilting world. This is something very much appreciated among other quilters since we are always in the need of different types of aspirations and inspirations.
